Dr. Allen Berger PH.D
is a nationally recognized expert in the science of recovery and relationships. He is author or Hazelden’s popular recovery mainstay 12 Stupid Things that Mess Up Recovery(2008). He is widely known for his work on several areas of recovery that include:
1. Integrating modern psychotherapy with the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous
2. Emotional Sobriety
3. Helping new patients understand the benefits of and get the most out of group therapy
4. Helping families adjust to the challenges of recovery
Dr. Berger is uniquely qualified - his own personal journey in recovery started 39 years ago on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. He was the third Marine admitted into the Drug Exemption Program which helped Vietnam Veterans with drug problems.

Andrew Martin, MBA, LAADC, SAP
is the founder and President of Serene Center, Inc., a 36 bed continued care transitional sober living community located in Long Beach, California. Andrew is President and Co-Founder of Serene Connections, a publishing company of educational materials for the substance abuse treatment industry. Andrew is the Director of Serene Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) issuing micro loans to individuals leaving primary treatment and wishing to continue their care into transitional sober living. Andrew is also the founder of Balanced Center Living, a philosophy of seven guiding principles that help people help themselves to a better quality of life. Andrew is an adjunct professor at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Andrew is a CADC II and an MBA.
